This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Define and take ownership of the enterprise data architecture strategy across operational, analytical, and AI/ML workloads.
• Design and oversee data models, data contracts, and canonical schemas.
• Assess and standardize data platform tools, including data lakes, warehouses, streaming, and serving layers.
• Act as the primary subject matter expert on shared data platform issues.
• Lead the technical design and solution development for foundational data components.
• Manage data governance frameworks encompassing classification, lineage, ownership, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with legal, security, and compliance teams on HIPAA, CCPA, and healthcare regulatory obligations.
• Define and implement data access controls, masking strategies, and PHI management.
• Promote the adoption of data catalogs and manage metadata effectively.
• Set standards for data retention, archiving, and deletion.
• Design architectures that support AI/ML training, feature engineering, and inference pipelines.
• Establish feature store patterns and real-time data serving strategies.
• Collaborate with AI engineering teams on LLM and generative AI data contracts and schemas.
• Implement dataset versioning, training/serving skew detection, and model input monitoring strategies.
• Provide guidance to product engineering, platform, and analytics teams regarding data architecture.
• Produce documentation, architecture decision records, and onboarding materials.
• Foster alignment on data standards, naming conventions, and shared data product strategies.
• Create data quality frameworks, observability standards, alerting protocols, lineage tracking, and incident response plans.
• Promote data reliability engineering practices and conduct pipeline testing.
• Over 7 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or similar roles.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with cloud-native data platforms, including GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub) and Azure Synapse.
• More than 5 years of experience in data governance, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated success in building and managing enterprise-scale data platforms across various product teams.
• Proficient in relational and non-relational data modeling, including dimensional modeling, Data Vault, or event-sourced patterns.
• Strong expertise in SQL and proficiency in at least one data pipeline language: Python, Scala, or Spark.
• Experience with streaming data architectures such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, or Kinesis.
• Familiarity with data governance tools like Dataplex, Collibra, or Alation.
• Understanding of data mesh principles and federated data ownership models.
• Knowledge of feature store platforms such as Feast, Tecton, or Vertex AI Feature Store.
• Experience with dbt, Great Expectations, or similar data transformation and quality frameworks.
• Exposure to LLM data pipelines, RAG architectures, embedding generation, or vector database design.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (High School diploma + 4 years of relevant experience).
