Systems Engineering Test Lead – Clearance Required

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and uphold a comprehensive enterprise test strategy that incorporates the entire system lifecycle, including a requirements traceability matrix (RTM), analysis of test coverage, and creation of test architecture artifacts.

• Ensure that system testing plans are aligned with enterprise-level program milestones.

• Oversee Agile quality gates by defining entry and exit criteria as well as defect severity standards for all testing phases.

• Validate test artifacts in accordance with DoDAF architectural views (OV-1, SV-1, OV-5b), conducting test readiness reviews that connect technical requirements with architectural products.

• Guarantee thorough test coverage of integration points between legacy and modernized systems, evaluating impacts on interoperability and data fidelity.

• Direct the formal execution of systems integration, user acceptance, and system-of-systems verification testing for F-35 LogIT.

• Create methodologies and coordinate resources for the planning, scheduling, and execution of integration tests across various platforms, environments (e.g., IL2/4/5/6), and stakeholders.

• Organize and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with end-users to confirm mission requirements and operational suitability.

• Establish and sustain an automated regression testing framework that supports CI/CD practices.

• Monitor and manage technical risks throughout the testing lifecycle, addressing performance, security, and system interoperability risks.

• Track issues and defects, providing status updates, trend analyses, and corrective actions to leadership.

• Lead test readiness reviews, test execution meetings, and defect triage sessions with internal teams, program management offices, prime contractors, and external certification agencies.

• Facilitate joint reviews with external DOD/OSW agencies to achieve formal acceptance and interoperability certification.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of test results, findings, and verification evidence for audits, certifications, and accreditations.

• Collaborate with product owners, scrum teams, and program leadership to weave T&E activities into sprint and Program Increment (PI) planning.

• Offer architectural and technical guidance that aligns with program priorities, contract deliverables, and incremental capability releases.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a closely related technical discipline.

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, software quality engineering, or leadership in test and evaluation for defense, federal, or large-scale enterprise software systems.

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and testing teams within U.S. military services (e.g., USAF, USN) or in multi-agency (Joint/OSW) Enterprise environments.

• Demonstrated experience in architecting, planning, and governing complex system integration and verification activities, ensuring alignment with technical reviews and compliance milestones.

• In-depth knowledge of systems engineering practices, including DoDAF architectural views, interface control verification, requirements traceability, and system-of-systems integration.

• Expertise in software development and Agile methodologies, including hands-on experience with Agile delivery frameworks (SAFe, Scrum), test automation, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Proficient in automated test management tools, defect tracking systems (e.g., Jira), and cloud-native architectures that operate across multiple security enclaves.

• Possession of an active SECRET security clearance or the capability to obtain and maintain one.

• Preferred: DAWIA Practitioner or Advanced credentials in Test & Evaluation or Systems Engineering, INCOSE CSEP, and/or certifications in Agile methods (e.g., SAFe Agilist, Scrum Master).

• Preferred: Experience with formal acceptance testing and joint interoperability certification processes involving external DOD or OSW agencies, including interaction with the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC).

• Preferred: Familiarity with DoD logistics data structures, Defense Logistics Management Standards (DLMS) transactions, and Defense Automatic Addressing System (DAAS) routing.

• Preferred: Experience in integrating test artifacts and workflows within cross-domain DoD environments (e.g., NIPR/SIPR, Cross Domain Solutions) and understanding of relevant security overlays.

• Preferred: Working knowledge of enterprise analytics and test reporting in environments such as Advana, Jupiter, or similar mission analytics platforms.

• Preferred: Background in supporting aviation sustainment, weapon system logistics, or related defense modernization programs.
