Staff Structural Analysis Engineer

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Lead technical efforts in structural and/or thermal-fluids analysis for aerospace vehicles and propulsion systems.

β€’ Collaborate across various engines, stages, and supporting systems.

β€’ Apply best practices from previous experiences and assist or take charge of verification and validation processes.

β€’ Offer proactive design recommendations.

β€’ Evaluate nonconforming hardware and enhance analysis methodologies.

β€’ Guide and mentor fellow engineers over time.

β€’ Analyze designs through static, dynamic, fatigue, and/or fracture assessments.

β€’ Create and sustain system-level and/or detailed FEM/FEA models while aiding in load development.

β€’ Conduct thermal-structural and/or coupled thermal-stress analyses and assist with vibration/shock evaluations.

β€’ Confirm and validate analytical and/or fluid system models against test data, collaborating with test teams on instrumentation.

β€’ Utilize hand calculations and/or CFD to evaluate fluid dynamics.

β€’ Develop steady-state and/or transient 1D fluid models.

β€’ Work alongside design, systems, and manufacturing teams.

β€’ Assist in anomaly and/or failure investigations and perform root-cause analysis.

β€’ Enhance analysis techniques, workflows, and tools while offering technical guidance.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.

β€’ Approximately 10+ years of experience in structural and/or thermal-fluids analysis for vehicles and/or propulsion systems.

β€’ Robust foundation in structural mechanics and/or fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.

β€’ Proficient in FEA/FEM utilizing commercial software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN-based solvers).

β€’ Experience in correlating analytical and/or fluid models with physical test data.

β€’ Knowledge of fatigue and fracture mechanics (e.g., HCF SN, LCF e-N, and/or LEFM crack growth/safe-life; familiarity with NASGRO or similar tools is advantageous).

β€’ Proficient in CFD and/or 1D fluid system modeling using commercial or lumped-parameter tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent/CFX, ROCETS, GFSSP, SINDA/FLUINT or similar).

β€’ Programming abilities for automating analysis and processing data (Python preferred; MATLAB or similar is acceptable).

β€’ Strong written and verbal communication skills; adept at working in a fast-paced startup environment focused on safety-critical systems.

β€’ Must qualify as a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).

β€’ Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
