Staff Software Engineer, Real-Time Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in designing the backend architecture for Legion's Command & Control system that manages swarms of diverse aircraft.

• Develop distributed, collaborative real-time infrastructure for simultaneously controlling large fleets of aircraft, even during communication failures.

• Create and develop services to ingest, process, and disseminate vehicle telemetry, sensor data, scheduling, crew resources, and data link management.

• Take ownership of backend features from conception to deployment.

• Deliver frequently and effectively with robust CI/CD, QA, and DevSecOps practices.

• Influence how humans command autonomous systems on a large scale.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 6 years of experience in building intricate backend systems with substantial knowledge of real distributed systems.

• Strong instincts for reliability, performance, and scalability, along with the appropriate tools to support them.

• Experience in building and maintaining production backend services and APIs at scale.

• Familiarity with real-time and event-driven distributed systems.

• Proven history in developing performance-sensitive, high-throughput applications.

• Knowledge of messaging and streaming protocols.

• Experience operating systems under conditions of degraded or intermittent connectivity.

• Background in working with geospatial data or applications.

• Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to receive the necessary authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

• Must fulfill the citizenship criteria to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
