This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +1 more country.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions that enable customer engagement with Fanatics Betting & Gaming promotional systems.
• Contribute to backend functionalities that allow customers to earn rewards usable across the Fanatics ecosystem.
• Lead teams in the development, testing, documentation, and deployment of high-quality, scalable, and extensible production software.
• Clarify specifications and assist with coding and story estimations.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and troubleshoot software-related issues.
• Recognize when to troubleshoot or escalate blocked tasks and projects.
• Mitigate immediate risks while identifying and resolving root causes.
• Eliminate bottlenecks and make decisions regarding short-term versus long-term technical and design trade-offs.
• Contribute to team planning and design discussions, promote best practices, and enhance delivery speed.
• Lead code reviews, offering constructive feedback and guidance.
• Simplify code and address architectural deficiencies within the team.
• Influence software architecture, dependencies, performance, and business value.
• Enhance testability, operational excellence metrics, and team documentation.
• Advise technology leaders, product teams, and internal stakeholders on technical decisions.
• Mentor and coach engineers to reduce future onboarding challenges.
• Influence adherence to engineering strategy principles, guidelines, and best practices.
• Develop an understanding of the industry, products, features, and roadmap.
• Stay updated on software development technologies and trends.
• Occasionally travel to Fanatics Betting & Gaming offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities.
• 5+ years of experience in building highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems.
• Possesses a wide-ranging understanding of design approaches.
• Capable of triaging and debugging system-wide production issues.
• Proven experience in mentoring other engineers.
• Able to convey complex technical subjects to engineers, technical leaders, marketing and operations teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Agile software product delivery and SCRUM methodology.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Agile mindset, with the ability to embrace new initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, hyper-growth setting where priorities shift frequently and decisions are made swiftly.
