Staff Software Engineer, Program Structure – Trust

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the design and delivery of Vanta's enterprise organizational model over multiple quarters.

• Foster support for hierarchical product lines and business units, ensuring isolated data access and ownership, cross-cutting audit workflows, scoped approvals, along with compliance for EU and GovCloud data residency.

• Define and refine core platform abstractions to meet varied and sometimes conflicting enterprise requirements.

• Adapt a live production system to a multi-tenant organizational framework.

• Create secure migration strategies and plan incremental delivery while maintaining continuity for existing clients.

• Deliver substantial customer value every quarter through well-defined incremental outputs.

• Directly engage with enterprise clients and apply sound product judgment.

• Propel execution across teams through technical clarity and established credibility.

• Collaborate with Engineering leadership, Product, and Design on phased deliverables.

• Establish technical standards, define reusable patterns, influence architecture across teams, and exemplify engineering excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of extensive backend engineering experience.

• Proven history of leading complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives in dynamic, product-centric environments.

• Experience in designing platform abstractions that address conflicting enterprise requirements for a varied customer base.

• Demonstrated success in incrementally shipping large, structurally complex solutions.

• Ability to operate effectively across squads and teams without direct ownership.

• In-depth knowledge of tenancy models, role-based access control, data isolation, scoped permissions, cross-tenant operations, and access boundary design.

• Excellent communication skills for articulating complex systems to engineering leadership, product partners, and customer-facing stakeholders.

• Familiarity with data residency or GovCloud is advantageous.

• Willingness to leverage AI responsibly to enhance efficiency and impact.
