Staff Software Engineer – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance core platform services and internal APIs utilized by various teams.

• Lead architectural projects including gRPC migration, event-driven architecture, and platform reengineering.

• Take ownership of and enhance control-plane and cluster-api components.

• Develop platform abstractions that alleviate operational and cognitive burdens for other teams.

• Write high-quality Go code for platform services and internal tools.

• Collaborate with Regions & Clusters, Resilience, and Features teams to facilitate delivery through platform primitives.

• Enhance platform scalability, reliability, and developer experience through strategic design.

• Provide support for production systems and incident response as necessary, focusing on sustainable solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a software engineer focusing on platform, infrastructure, or distributed systems.

• Strong skills in Go and Python, or deep knowledge in one with a willingness to work with both regularly.

• Extensive experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures.

• In-depth understanding of distributed systems and API design.

• Proven experience in building and managing production systems utilized by other engineers or teams.

• Comfortable working across teams and fostering technical alignment.

• Ownership mindset coupled with effective communication skills.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with gRPC, event-driven architectures, or control-plane systems.

• Nice to have: Knowledge of Kubernetes operators or cluster-level abstractions.

• Nice to have: Experience in SaaS, database, or systems-level product companies.

• Nice to have: Proficiency with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).

• Nice to have: Contributions to open-source projects.
