Staff Software Engineer – Mobile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Establish and take charge of the quality and reliability strategy within the mobile and backend domains.

• Create quality gates as part of the release and store-deployment pipelines.

• Tackle device and OS-version fragmentation while managing flakiness at scale using BrowserStack and GitLab CI.

• Enhance the backend/API/contract layer and ensure a seamless connection to native mobile clients.

• Lead the resolution of quality and reliability challenges across teams.

• Actively participate in the development of prototypes, tools, reference implementations, and complex incident management.

• Shift quality ownership earlier in the engineering workflow.

• Guide senior engineers and facilitate their professional growth.

• Conduct tech talks, workshops, create reusable documentation, and engage in pair sessions; co-lead the OneTech community.

• Collaboratively influence domain technical direction with the SEM and evaluate quality trends.

• Establish quality and reliability metrics and gates, articulating risk in business terms.

• Define the adoption of AI for enhancing quality and engineering productivity, including related tools and workflows.

• Implement AI governance and data-security standards.

• Evaluate and manage risks associated with AI usage, particularly in production-facing tasks.

• Mentor engineers on the responsible use of AI and provide reports on AI ROI.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proven history of operating at the Staff / Principal / Tech Lead / Architect level.

• Demonstrated impact that extends beyond a single team, including establishing standards for multiple teams or leading cross-team initiatives.

• Deep commitment to quality and reliability as key engineering disciplines.

• Experience in setting standards and devising testing/quality strategies with measurable improvements in outcomes.

• Proven experience in shift-left methodologies, engaging in processes before code is developed and effecting measurable changes.

• Solid hands-on engineering background; proficient in reading, reviewing, and writing production-quality code.

• Experience in spearheading technical and process changes in collaboration with development teams.

• Practical experience using AI and evaluating its associated risks.

• Proficient in English.

• Commercial experience in building or testing native mobile applications using Swift and/or Kotlin at a large scale.

• Familiarity with BrowserStack and CI/CD processes using GitLab.

• Experience in snapshot testing tools, such as swift-snapshot-testing or Paparazzi.

• Background in establishing mock-based testing standards.

• Experience in logistics or e-commerce sectors.

• Fluency in Polish.

• Familiarity with Appium.

• Experience in applying AI within engineering/testing workflows.

• ISTQB Advanced Level – Test Automation Engineer certification.
