Staff Software Engineer – Mobile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Establish and oversee the quality and reliability strategy for both the mobile application and backend systems.

• Create quality gates within the release and store deployment workflows.

• Guarantee device and OS version coverage while managing flakiness at scale through BrowserStack and GitLab CI.

• Enhance the backend/API/contract layer and ensure effective integration with native iOS and Android applications.

• Facilitate the resolution of quality and reliability challenges across teams.

• Provide hands-on contributions through prototypes, tools, reference implementations, and incident management.

• Integrate quality ownership earlier in the engineering workflow.

• Guide senior engineers and promote their professional development.

• Conduct tech talks, workshops, create reusable documentation, and facilitate pair programming sessions; co-lead the OneTech community.

• Collaborate with the SEM to shape the technical direction of the domain, exercising autonomy within the area.

• Evaluate quality trends and establish quality/reliability metrics and gates.

• Present technical risks in business language to EMs, SEMs, and PMs.

• Define the adoption of AI for enhancing quality and engineering productivity, including tools and workflows.

• Develop AI-assisted workflows while establishing governance and data security standards.

• Evaluate and manage risks associated with AI usage, particularly in production settings.

• Coach engineers on responsible AI practices and report on its return on investment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proven history of operating at the Staff / Principal / Tech Lead / Architect level, demonstrating impact beyond a single team.

• Demonstrated experience in testing on at least one mobile platform (iOS or Android) using industry-standard methodologies.

• Commercial experience in testing native mobile applications at a working level.

• Deep commitment to quality and reliability as a fundamental engineering discipline.

• Experience in establishing standards and designing testing/quality strategies.

• Proven shift-left experience, engaging in the process prior to code development and achieving measurable results.

• Strong hands-on engineering skills; capable of reading, reviewing, and writing production-quality code.

• Experience in leading technical and process changes directly with development teams.

• Practical experience with AI and evaluating its associated risks.

• Proficiency in English.

• Familiarity with BrowserStack and CI/CD (GitLab) is highly preferred.

• Preferred experience with snapshot testing tools (e.g., swift-snapshot-testing, Paparazzi) and implementing mock-based testing standards.

• Preferred background in logistics or e-commerce.

• Fluency in Polish is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with Appium is a plus.

• Experience applying AI in engineering/testing workflows is advantageous.

• ISTQB Advanced Level – Test Automation Engineer certification is a plus.
