Staff Software Engineer – Market Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Design and develop distributed systems for the ingestion, normalization, processing, storage, and delivery of real-time market data sourced from blockchain and other pertinent channels.

• Create and manage streaming solutions that address event ordering, timestamps, duplicates, replay, gaps, recovery, blockchain reorganizations, and finality.

• Develop dependable client feeds and APIs that feature clear delivery contracts, schema evolution, access controls, and predictable performance under load or when consumers fall behind.

• Collaborate with teams across Dune on reference data models and historical data collection.

• Establish and enhance service objectives and data quality standards.

• Measure and monitor latency, freshness, completeness, and accuracy.

• Transform incidents into sustainable improvements in recovery and operations.

• Independently troubleshoot and lead root cause analysis to implement lasting fixes.

• Oversee services throughout deployment and production support, including participating in on-call duties.

• Integrate AI into development for design exploration, implementation, testing, failure analysis, and documentation.

• Create repeatable AI-assisted workflows and disseminate effective practices within the team.

• Guide technical decisions that cross team boundaries.

• Compose clear technical design documents.

• Mentor engineers during implementation and review processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building and operating distributed backend or data services that meet stringent reliability and performance criteria.

• In-depth understanding of distributed-service failure modes and the ability to debug across service and data boundaries.

• Experience with real-time streaming systems, encompassing concurrency, state management, backpressure, and recovery strategies.

• Strong emphasis on data accuracy, including timestamps, numeric precision, schema modifications, and rectifications.

• Solid foundation in computer science principles and backend engineering capabilities.

• Familiarity with Rust, Go, or similar programming languages is advantageous.

• Capability to translate ambiguous requirements into practical designs and production services.

• Ability to assist fellow engineers in delivering components of the solution.

• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a distributed team.

• Experience with financial or market data in a financial institution setting.

• On-chain data experience, such as blockchain indexing using EVM or Solana, is a plus.

• Experience with reference data is an added advantage.

• Background in a company where data is the primary product is a plus.

• Participation in the team’s on-call rotation is required.
