Staff Software Engineer in Test – Mobile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Develop and take charge of the mobile testing strategy for native iOS and Android applications.

• Establish a strategy for device and OS-version fragmentation coverage while managing test flakiness at scale.

• Execute test suites on BrowserStack utilizing GitLab CI.

• Enhance backend, API, and contract testing, integrating it with the mobile client layer.

• Oversee quality gates within app release and store-deployment pipelines.

• Facilitate the resolution of cross-team quality challenges within the domain.

• Collaborate with developers to enhance testability and embed quality ownership into the development workflow.

• Guide Senior Software Engineers in Test and offer technical direction throughout the domain.

• Conduct tech talks, workshops, documentation, and pairing sessions across QA and development teams.

• Co-lead the OneTech/QA community.

• Influence the technical quality trajectory of the domain alongside the SEM.

• Evaluate quality trends and metrics to pinpoint areas for improvement.

• Establish quality metrics and gates, articulating quality risks in business language.

• Formulate AI adoption strategies, AI-assisted testing workflows, and governance and data-security standards.

• Evaluate AI usage risks in testing, mentor engineers on responsible AI practices, and report on AI ROI for quality engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in automating native mobile app tests for iOS or Android, preferably both.

• Practical, commercial-level proficiency in Swift and/or Kotlin.

• Experience in designing test strategies and the test pyramid.

• Demonstrated shift-left experience, engaging in the process prior to coding and making measurable improvements.

• Proven experience in leading technical or process transformations directly with development teams.

• Familiarity with implementing mock-based testing and establishing related standards and training.

• Evident impact beyond a single team through multi-team standards or cross-team quality initiatives.

• Direct, critical application of AI, including risk assessment.

• Fluency in English.

• Polish language skills are a plus.

• Experience with BrowserStack and CI/CD (GitLab) is advantageous.

• Knowledge of snapshot testing is a plus.

• Familiarity with Appium is beneficial.

• Experience using AI in testing workflows is advantageous.

• Background in logistics or e-commerce industry is a plus.

• ISTQB Advanced Level - Test Automation Engineer certification is a plus.
