Staff Software Engineer in Test – Mobile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Establish and take charge of the quality and reliability strategy within the mobile and backend domains.

• Create practices for testability and release confidence across API/contract, as well as native iOS and Android clients.

• Integrate quality gates into the release and app-store deployment pipelines.

• Oversee device and OS-version fragmentation coverage and manage flakiness control at scale using BrowserStack and GitLab CI.

• Enhance the backend/API/contract layer and ensure a seamless connection to mobile clients.

• Facilitate cross-team resolution of quality and reliability challenges.

• Engage directly with the codebase through prototypes, tooling, reference implementations, and incident resolution.

• Promote quality ownership earlier in the engineering workflows.

• Guide senior engineers and expedite their professional development.

• Conduct tech talks, workshops, reusable documentation, and pair sessions; co-lead the OneTech community.

• Collaborate with the SEM to co-develop the domain's technical direction and analyze quality trends and metrics.

• Establish quality and reliability metrics and gates, articulating risk in business terms for EMs, SEMs, and PMs.

• Define the implementation of AI for quality and engineering productivity, covering tools and workflows.

• Design AI-assisted workflows while setting governance and data-security standards.

• Evaluate and manage the risks associated with AI usage, particularly in production-facing work.

• Mentor engineers on the responsible use of AI and report on its return on investment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proven history of operating at Staff / Principal / Tech Lead / Architect levels, demonstrating impact beyond a single team.

• Verifiable experience testing on at least one mobile platform (iOS or Android) using industry-standard methods.

• Commercial, hands-on experience in testing native mobile applications.

• Strong commitment to quality and reliability as an engineering discipline.

• Experience in establishing standards and designing testing/quality strategies with measurable improvements.

• Demonstrated shift-left experience prior to code development, with tangible results.

• Solid hands-on engineering background, including the ability to read, review, and write production-quality code.

• Experience leading technical and process changes directly within development teams.

• Practical experience utilizing AI and assessing its associated risks.

• Proficient in English.

• Familiarity with BrowserStack and CI/CD (GitLab) is a significant advantage.

• Experience with snapshot testing methods, such as swift-snapshot-testing or Paparazzi, and the introduction of mock-based testing standards is a considerable plus.

• Background in logistics or e-commerce is an advantage.

• Knowledge of Polish is a plus.

• Familiarity with Appium is a bonus.

• Experience implementing AI in engineering/testing workflows is a bonus.

• ISTQB Advanced Level – Test Automation Engineer certification is a bonus.
