Head of Production Test Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain a cohesive production testing roadmap that encompasses new products, product launches, mass production support, and infrastructure enhancements.

• Lead the engineering team by allocating resources, enhancing team capabilities, and balancing urgent production challenges with scheduled tasks.

• Facilitate coordination of dependencies across hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and other teams, proactively identifying risks and obstacles.

• Establish production testing strategies and acceptance criteria.

• Supervise the development and upkeep of test fixtures, equipment, software, and infrastructure, particularly for Flipper One.

• Coordinate the deployment of tests at factories and ensure that instructions and test result monitoring are current.

• Determine root causes of defects and validate solutions in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams.

• Examine production test data, returns, and support cases to uncover systemic issues and implement enhancements to products, manufacturing processes, or testing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in electronics production testing with a comprehensive understanding of the entire product lifecycle from prototype through to mass production.

• Proficiency in reading and creating schematics, utilizing measurement tools, soldering, and troubleshooting interactions among electronics, firmware, and testing software.

• Hands-on experience in developing or implementing automated tests and production test fixtures.

• Solid skills in Linux and Python, including pytest.

• Experience in leading an engineering team, encompassing planning, prioritization, resource allocation, and personnel development.

• Proven experience in managing cross-team dependencies and collaborating directly with factories on technical specifications, production modifications, and problem resolution.

• Proficiency in English sufficient for conducting calls, written communication, and technical documentation with factories.

• Preferred: experience launching production on-site in China and engaging directly with Chinese factories.

• Preferred: confident use of AI tools for rapid prototyping.
