Staff Software Engineer – Healthcare, Systems & Integrations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.

• Drive the advancement of systems that support dependable healthcare delivery operations.

• Take ownership of significant technical decisions across interconnected operational processes.

• Manage comprehensive software for fulfillment, maintenance, inventory, and flight workflows.

• Oversee architecture across various teams, from data models and API contracts to implementation, deployment, and continuous operation.

• Create robust APIs, backend services, and integration patterns that link field operations, internal teams, and customer-facing products.

• Develop modular, event-driven systems that adapt to operational and business requirements.

• Enhance reliability, observability, automated testing, and operational decision-making for essential workflows.

• Establish engineering standards through design reviews, code assessments, mentoring, and technical leadership.

• Collaborate with operations, supply chain, finance, and customer-facing teams to address high-impact challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in production software engineering, including staff-level technical responsibilities.

• Experience in both a high-engineering-bar organization working at scale and in a startup or scale-up environment where you built from the ground up, managing limited DevOps support and navigating a fast-paced, ambiguous landscape.

• Extensive production expertise in Go.

• Experience in designing and operating distributed, event-driven systems; familiarity with Kafka or similar technologies is highly relevant.

• Strong background in database design and performance, including Postgres.

• Proven record of managing architecture across teams, leading significant migrations, mentoring engineers, and engaging directly with customers or external stakeholders.

• Clear and effective communication skills in English.

• Capacity to work from the US East Coast or London, UK, with the ability to travel to Africa approximately three times a year.

• Experience with integrating external partner APIs or partner systems.

• Proficiency in designing reliable integration points and API contracts, including authentication, error handling, observability, and integration workflows.

• Background in healthcare, fulfillment, logistics, warehouse management, or e-commerce systems.
