Staff Software Engineer – DSM Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, scale, and maintain backend systems that handle large data volumes.

• Engage in event-driven and API-based integration projects.

• Assist in migration efforts towards a more domain-oriented and scalable architecture.

• Create and enhance software for performance-sensitive tasks.

• Analyze technical challenges and collaborate with the team to propose solutions.

• Partner with data science and engineering teams on technical initiatives.

• Operate independently without supervision while ensuring timely and high-quality output.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers for approximately 20% of the time.

• Maintain close communication and collaboration with the Outcomes, Methodology, and Recruitment teams, alongside related product and data science areas.

• Contribute to the development of the next generation of Cint products and support top-tier research.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in backend software engineering.

• Profound technical expertise.

• Proficiency in Java or a willingness to transition from another primary programming language to Java.

• Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, Big O notation, and event-driven architecture.

• Knowledge of Spark, Apache ecosystem tools, Delta Lake, Parquet, and Kafka.

• Experience with Python and/or PySpark.

• Proven experience in building or maintaining complex, real-time, high-volume systems that prioritize high throughput and low latency.

• Familiarity with Docker, SQL, and NoSQL databases.

• Experience with REST APIs and event-driven integrations.

• Comfortable operating in performance-focused, production-critical environments.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive, collaborative approach to work.

• Strong communication skills with engineers and data science collaborators.

• A degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.

• Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud services is a plus.

• Familiarity with Pandas is a plus.

• Experience with the Spring framework and microservices is a plus.

• Previous experience in large-scale data or analytics settings is a plus.
