Staff Software Engineer – DSM Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, scale, and maintain backend systems that handle large volumes of data.

• Engage in event-driven and API-based integrations.

• Assist in migration efforts towards a more domain-centric and scalable architecture.

• Develop and enhance software for workflows that are sensitive to performance.

• Analyze technical issues and collaborate with the team to propose effective solutions.

• Work closely with data science and engineering teams to devise technical solutions.

• Independently tackle complex challenges while ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.

• Mentor and influence junior and mid-level engineers.

• Communicate and collaborate effectively across Outcomes, Methodology, and Recruitment teams, as well as with product and data science departments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in backend software engineering, demonstrating strong technical expertise.

• Technology-agnostic; open to transitioning the primary programming language to Java.

• Comprehensive understanding of algorithms, data structures, Big O notation, and event-driven architecture.

• Familiarity with Spark and the Apache ecosystem tools, as well as Delta Lake, Parquet, and Kafka.

• Proficient in Python and/or PySpark.

• Experience in building or maintaining complex, real-time, high-volume systems with high throughput and low latency.

• Knowledge of Docker, SQL, and NoSQL databases.

• Proficient in REST APIs and event-driven integrations.

• Comfortable working in performance-oriented, production-critical settings.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, cooperative approach to work.

• Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and data science partners.

• Preferred academic background in computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline.

• Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud service providers.

• Familiarity with Pandas.

• Experience with the Spring framework and microservices.

• Background in large-scale data or analytics environments.
