This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +1 more country.
• Design, implement, scale, and maintain backend systems that handle significant volumes of data.
• Engage in event-driven and API-based integrations.
• Aid in the transition towards a more domain-oriented and scalable architecture.
• Develop and enhance software for workflows that are sensitive to performance.
• Analyze technical challenges and suggest solutions in collaboration with the team.
• Work closely with colleagues in data science and engineering.
• Operate independently without supervision while ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers approximately 20% of the time.
• Collaborate with the Outcomes, Methodology, and Recruitment teams as well as product and data science departments.
• Over 10 years of experience in backend software engineering.
• Profound technical expertise.
• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, Big O notation, and event-driven architecture.
• Familiarity with Spark, tools from the Apache ecosystem, Delta Lake, Parquet, and Kafka.
• Proficiency in Python and/or PySpark.
• Experience in constructing or maintaining complex, real-time, high-volume systems with minimal latency and high throughput.
• Experience with Docker, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Proficient in REST APIs and event-driven integrations.
• Comfortable operating in performance-driven, production-critical settings.
• Strong aptitude for problem-solving.
• Proactive and collaborative working approach.
• Effective communication skills with engineers and data science collaborators.
• A degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud service providers is preferred.
• Familiarity with Pandas is preferred.
• Experience with the Spring framework and microservices is preferred.
• Background in large-scale data or analytics environments is preferred.
