This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Design, develop, scale, and maintain backend systems that handle substantial data volumes.
• Engage in event-driven and API-based integrations.
• Assist in migration initiatives towards a more domain-centric and scalable architecture.
• Construct and enhance software for performance-critical workflows.
• Examine technical issues and collaborate with the team to devise solutions.
• Work closely with data science and engineering teams on technical challenges.
• Guide junior and mid-level engineers about 20% of the time.
• Concentrate on intricate technical problems for around 80% of the time.
• Operate independently with minimal supervision while ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively across the Outcomes, Methodology, and Recruitment teams, as well as with product and data science.
• Over 10 years of experience in backend software engineering.
• Profound technical expertise.
• Experience with backend systems that manage large data volumes.
• Familiarity with event-driven and API-based integrations.
• Background in complex, real-time, high-volume systems with high throughput and low latency.
• Knowledge of Spark, Apache ecosystem tools, Delta Lake, Parquet, Kafka, and Avro.
• Proficiency in Python and/or PySpark.
• Familiarity with Docker, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with REST APIs and event-driven integrations.
• Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, Big O notation, and event-driven architecture.
• Comfortable operating in performance-focused, production-critical settings.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive, collaborative approach.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and data science collaborators.
• Preferred academic background in computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud providers is a nice-to-have.
• Familiarity with Pandas is a nice-to-have.
• Experience with the Spring framework and microservices is a nice-to-have.
• Background in large-scale data or analytics environments is a nice-to-have.
