Staff Software Engineer – Customer Facing Applied AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical vision for AI engineering within the team, encompassing agent architecture patterns, evaluation methodology, deployment, and monitoring strategies.

• Develop the AI platform layer, which includes shared agent frameworks, tool integrations, and evaluation infrastructure.

• Collaborate directly with clients on complex projects to pinpoint problem areas and create AI capabilities for previously manual workflows.

• Make critical decisions regarding AI production readiness, balancing speed with reliability.

• Facilitate the transition from prototype to product in collaboration with core engineering teams.

• Ensure production quality for AI systems by designing observability, setting SLOs, and establishing operational practices.

• Mentor and develop AI and full-stack engineers.

• Influence product direction by converting client engagement insights into roadmap priorities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Proven experience with Python.

• Extensive experience in building and operating AI/LLM-powered systems in production, including agent architectures, multi-model orchestration, and large-scale evaluation.

• Proven track record of designing technical systems that serve as a foundation for other engineers.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, Codex, or similar technologies.

• Demonstrated experience in taking products or capabilities from inception to execution.

• Experience in working directly with customers or external stakeholders to define and deliver technical projects.

• Strong decision-making skills in ambiguous, high-stakes situations.

• Capability to lead technical direction without formal authority.

• Exceptional communication abilities.

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Nice to have: experience designing multi-service AI platform architectures.

• Nice to have: proficiency in additional backend languages, particularly Java.

• Nice to have: knowledge of the financial services domain.

• Nice to have: expertise in production observability and SaaS operational excellence at scale.

• Nice to have: experience in developer roles or internal platform projects.
