Staff Software Engineer, Backend – Trust and Safety

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish a year-long technical strategy for the team.

• Link technical strategy to significant, business-impacting initiatives.

• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the entire product development lifecycle.

• Ensure that technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are recognized and managed effectively.

• Define and champion technical solutions and operational processes.

• Oversee team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting.

• Support ongoing operational efforts and on-call responsibilities.

• Establish standards for code review and design.

• Promote engineering standards through writing and technical presentations.

• Foster team talent through feedback, mentorship, and leading by example.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems.

• Proficient in Python or Kotlin.

• Extensive background in developing highly available distributed systems.

• Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.

• Proven track record of delivering major features or system components, or retiring existing functionality, through effective technical and execution planning.

• Ability to produce high-quality, maintainable code.

• Capability to work from low-level language idioms to large-system architecture.

• Demonstrated skill in gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
