This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take ownership of one or more interconnected platform areas and the results produced by the teams operating within them.
• Keep leadership updated on any delays, resource shortages, technical liabilities, and unrealistic timelines.
• Provide teams with context linking the company’s strategic direction to daily operations.
• Manage staffing composition, delivery velocity, product alignment, and architectural direction.
• Own and advocate for the quarterly roadmap and its prioritization.
• Identify and nurture engineers to transition into technical leadership roles.
• Recruit and interview prospective candidates for the teams.
• Collaborate with a technical program manager on planning cycles, dependencies, and operational execution.
• Make architectural decisions, including managing technical debt.
• Influence the overall system architecture and shared components alongside engineering leadership and fellow Staff Engineers.
• Design systems that capture and connect relationships within the entertainment industry.
• Develop modern CRM workflows to replace outdated tools and spreadsheets.
• Create AI-driven features that highlight insights from operational data.
• Build APIs and services for managing deals and workflows.
• Transition legacy applications to contemporary web-based systems.
• Proven experience in owning outcomes across multiple teams or workstreams simultaneously, leveraging leads instead of direct execution.
• A history of identifying risks early and constructively challenging unrealistic scopes or timelines.
• Experience in mentoring engineers into technical leadership positions.
• Comfort in managing a roadmap and advocating for its priorities.
• Experience in hiring and conducting interviews.
• Ability to thrive in environments where systems, processes, and organizational structures are still being developed.
• Extensive experience in software engineering, typically 15+ years.
• Strong full-stack expertise in building modern web applications, with substantial proficiency in React, TypeScript, and Next.js.
• Solid backend experience with Node.js, creating scalable services and APIs (REST and gRPC).
• Experience in designing and managing relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure; Azure preferred, including cloud-native services like serverless functions, managed databases, queues, and blob storage.
• Experience with containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes, alongside infrastructure as code utilizing Terraform.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling (such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar).
• Strong product instincts paired with a collaborative mindset.
