Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead a team of engineers in the design and development of products tailored for customers and associates.

• Create, implement, and maintain production applications.

• Support product and tool selection, including configuration, security, resilience, performance optimization, and production monitoring.

• Contribute reusable foundational code, architectural diagrams, and comprehensive product documentation.

• Develop, test, deploy, and sustain software applications.

• Create functional and destructive test suites to facilitate rapid production deployment.

• Collaborate with the Product Team to ensure user stories are ready for developers, clearly understood, and testable.

• Engage with team members in agile methodologies.

• Address inquiries from product and engineering teams.

• Mentor junior engineers on contemporary software development frameworks and lead technical discussions.

• Identify team deficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance productivity.

• Spearhead technical initiatives from the design phase through to production delivery.

• Provide technical guidance, eliminate obstacles, track delivery progress, and ensure commitments are fulfilled.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen years of age.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in software engineering, ideally in a large-scale enterprise context.

• Strong backend development proficiency with Java, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.

• Proven experience in designing and building APIs from the ground up, contributing to overall application and service architecture.

• Familiarity with Kafka and/or Pub/Sub technologies.

• Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery.

• Experience with Elasticsearch and solutions for large-scale data storage, search, or retrieval.

• Background in designing and supporting high-volume backend systems and databases.

• Experience in supporting transactional or financial data platforms.

• Ability to design scalable systems ensuring high availability, resilience, performance, efficiency, disaster recovery, and security.

• Capable of managing multiple technical initiatives concurrently and coordinating small engineering teams.

• Ability to provide technical direction, remove barriers, track delivery progress, and ensure commitments are met.

• Strong technical ownership and project leadership while remaining actively involved.

• Capacity to act as a technical liaison among engineering, product, and stakeholder teams.

• Excellent system design and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong skills in communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution.

• Experience in mentoring and offering technical guidance to engineers.

• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, CI/CD tools, modern software design patterns, debugging, root-cause analysis, testing, and version control.

• Experience in developing technical roadmaps, estimating workloads, and modernizing or refactoring legacy systems.

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification in a related field.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
