Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Facilitate technical alignment among teams by creating and reviewing technical documentation.

• Lead architecture discussions, meetings, and workshops focused on code design patterns and development methodologies.

• Act as a technical resource and connector between engineering, product, business, and design teams.

• Ensure technical coherence with the company’s strategic goals.

• Advocate for engineering best practices, encompassing code quality, testing, automation, reliability, and observability.

• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the engineering culture across teams and throughout the organization.

• Mentor developers, share knowledge, support career growth, and assist in nurturing emerging technical leaders.

• Maintain the architectural integrity of systems by promoting consistency, controlled evolution, and adherence to the company’s technical principles.

• Engage in technical discussions, architecture reviews, and design decision-making.

• Balance innovation with legacy systems, independence with alignment, and agility with technical sustainability.

• Show enthusiasm for new technologies and investigate how Artificial Intelligence can transform processes, experiences, and outcomes.

• Work on Starian’s Sienge product, a SaaS solution aimed at the construction sector, legal intelligence, operational efficiency, and governance and compliance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Prior experience in leading, mentoring, and influencing developers or teams to consistently enhance the quality of their outputs and advance their engineering practices.

• Current position must be Level 3 Software Developer (or equivalent) or above (such as Specialist).

• Strong knowledge and practical experience with Clean Code, Design Patterns, SOLID principles, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Hexagonal/Clean Architecture, and related concepts.

• Robust knowledge and hands-on experience in developing and maintaining automated tests, including unit, service, and integration tests.

• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD), testing patterns, appropriate utilization of Mocks/Test Doubles, and testing tools, frameworks, and libraries.

• Proficiency in Agile Software Development, continuous integration, incremental delivery, pair programming, KISS, YAGNI, and continuous refactoring.

• Excellent communication, reasoning, and persuasion skills, alongside negotiation abilities, the capacity to give and receive feedback, empathy, and humility.

• Knowledge of or interest in Artificial Intelligence technologies, including tools, applications, and concepts.
