Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide technical leadership and guidance for multiple agile teams or projects in the implementation of prioritized software product roadmaps.

• Develop high-quality code for complex scenarios ensuring robust test coverage.

• Analyze and convert product requirements into solid designs for distributed application systems.

• Oversee design and code reviews for various applications.

• Manage multiple sprint teams within the same product domain to deliver new or enhanced features.

• Resolve obstacles to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions for product backlog items.

• Collaborate with teams, stakeholders, and product managers to estimate efforts, prioritize tasks, plan, and deliver roadmap objectives.

• Mentor and offer technical insights to engineers across various teams.

• Cultivate a culture of innovation and excellence within Mercury engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience equivalent.

• Over 7 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record in cutting-edge technologies and/or those utilized at Mercury.

• More than 3 years of hands-on experience leading multi-team engineering projects for developing features in a distributed application systems setting.

• Proficient in programming with one or more industry-standard languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript).

• Skilled in utilizing various data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.

• Experienced with relational databases, NoSQL, and caching solutions.

• Proficient in building APIs using modern protocols such as REST and gRPC.

• Familiar with message queuing, data streaming, workflow, and integration frameworks including Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, Amazon SQS, MS MQ, and Apache Camel.

• Knowledgeable in microservices architecture.

• Experienced in containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

• Proficient in cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

• Skilled in applying DevSecOps to enhance engineering efficiency.

• Capable of designing and implementing high-quality distributed application systems.

• Experienced in using analytics data and experimentation to design and enhance systems.

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

• Demonstrated leadership through mentoring and providing technical direction to multiple teams.

• Experienced in advocating for operational excellence and best practices, focusing on quality, performance, scalability, maintainability, and observability.

• Proven experience in driving technical strategy and vision for multiple teams.
