Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hungary.

📋 Description

• Architect and oversee highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable systems for AI-driven features within the Mercury and Hamster teams.

• Develop dependable systems built on stochastic, LLM-based frameworks.

• Identify failures at the correct layer and implement appropriate corrective measures.

• Measure the cost and reliability of AI-driven features.

• Create reproducible harnesses that transform insights into reusable tools.

• Provide mentorship to engineers across both teams.

• Enhance code quality and promote AI-assisted engineering practices.

• Synchronize architectural decisions with technical colleagues throughout the organization.

• Lead investigations into incidents and conduct root-cause analyses.

• Participate in recruitment and interview activities.

• Advance the methods by which the organization develops and assesses AI-driven features.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven success in managing highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable system architecture at a Staff level, or demonstrating clear readiness for such responsibilities.

• Extensive daily use of AI coding tools as an integral part of software development.

• Expertise in engineering reliable systems based on stochastic, LLM frameworks.

• Capability to diagnose issues at the appropriate layer, assess cost and reliability, and create reproducible evaluation harnesses.

• Demonstrated success in mentoring engineers.

• Ability to influence architectural decisions across multiple teams.

• Quick adaptability to unfamiliar stacks or environments.

• A curious disposition and a growth-oriented mindset.

• Active engagement with and application of emerging AI tools.

• Experience or capability to work across Node, Java, React, Lit, AWS, and Terraform environments.
