Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design and develop the Cluster management platform.

• Act as the chief technical authority for authentication, authorization, and identity logic within the Software Defined Storage solution.

• Collaborate with senior leadership and domain specialists to sustain and enhance core infrastructure.

• Work with the security team to establish user access controls that comply with standards while ensuring optimal system performance.

• Conduct thorough code reviews and provide mentorship to mid-level engineers.

• Produce comprehensive documentation for identity systems.

• Engage in the Scrum lifecycle from ideation and prototyping through to testing and maintenance.

• Ensure extensive regression coverage for sensitive code paths.

• Participate in the team's on-call rotation and offer high-level support for the globally distributed footprint.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of experience in backend development.

• Profound expertise in Go, C++, or Python within high-scale distributed systems.

• Extensive understanding of RBAC, ABAC, and Multi-Tenancy models in containerized or orchestrated environments.

• Hands-on experience with TLS/mTLS, PKI management, certificate lifecycles, and OAuth2/OIDC.

• Familiarity with Consul, etcd, or other key/value stores for service discovery and global cluster state.

• Demonstrated success working with geographically distributed teams using asynchronous communication methods such as RFCs and design documents.

• Experience in taking full responsibility for a mission-critical domain, encompassing long-term health, documentation, and scalability.

• Proven track record in developing API servers, controllers, or management layers for storage or compute resources.

• Experience collaborating with experts to document tribal knowledge and build robust system architecture.

• Familiarity with Prometheus and OpenTelemetry.

• Ability to distill complex user access challenges into developer-friendly CLI and API experiences.

• Strong communication and prioritization skills.

• Willingness to participate in a team on-call rotation.
