Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee scalable, resilient systems across various teams.

• Facilitate architecture evaluations and design discussions across multiple ongoing projects.

• Assist engineers by addressing challenging technical issues and troubleshooting complex problems.

• Regularly write and deploy production code.

• Utilize AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Claude for design and code assessments.

• Provide mentorship to engineers at all levels, from foundational to senior.

• Recognize systemic risks and technical debt, driving cross-team solutions.

• Collaborate with engineering leadership, project managers, and senior engineers to align business priorities with technical roadmaps.

• Support the maintenance of reliable and scalable systems essential for Curri’s last-mile logistics operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in developing production software.

• Proven history of owning architecture and technical direction beyond a single team or project.

• Experience in leading system design for scalable and dependable production infrastructure.

• Comprehensive knowledge in both backend systems (TypeScript, Node.js, Postgres, Redis, NATS) and/or UI (React, React Native).

• Proficiency in AI-assisted delivery using tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or similar agents.

• Ability to discern when AI outputs require human oversight.

• Capability to mentor others in effective AI-supported development practices.

• Demonstrated experience in mentorship.

• Strong and straightforward communication abilities.

• Capacity to influence technical direction without formal authority.

• Experience in scaling systems, identifying systemic challenges, establishing technical standards, or holding roles such as tech lead, staff engineer, or architect are advantageous qualifications.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
