Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Create and execute strategies for legacy system displacement while ensuring zero downtime during the transition of domains out of the monolithic architecture.

• Take charge of the architectural vision, including patterns, standards, and trade-offs for legacy displacement throughout the domain.

• Establish the technical direction for modernization, transitioning from Go to Java/Kotlin/Spring.

• Provide mentorship to both senior and mid-level engineers.

• Enhance engineering quality through rigorous design reviews.

• Develop new services while migrating existing systems from Go to Spring.

• Work closely with product managers to refine requirements and develop the roadmap.

• Manage the balance between addressing technical debt and delivering new product value.

• Facilitate communication via written documentation and asynchronous collaboration across different time zones.

• Utilize Grafana and modern tracing tools to oversee system health and reliability.

• Employ agentic programming tools like Claude Code to expedite refactoring and development processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive backend engineering experience, generally around 10+ years.

• In-depth knowledge of backend systems, especially in performance-sensitive and production-critical environments.

• Proficient in adapting to various programming languages.

• Practical experience with React is highly valued.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures.

• Demonstrated success in dismantling monolithic systems and overseeing system migrations.

• Strong background in Unit, Integration, and E2E testing methodologies.

• A product-oriented mindset with an understanding of business implications.

• Experience in observability and monitoring system performance.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across different time zones.

• Skills in mentoring and sharing knowledge with team members.
