Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the complete pipeline that generates demand models, renewal probabilities, price elasticity, and compliance scoring recommendations.

• Reconstruct and reconcile lease and charge data from various property management system APIs that may be inconsistent.

• Provision and oversee databases, queues, roles, IAM, encryption, networking, and alerts utilizing Terraform.

• Create the orchestration layer for data ingestion, inference, and daily downstream jobs.

• Ensure jobs execute in the correct sequence, manage dependencies on ready inputs, and recover seamlessly from upstream delays.

• Develop observability and alerting mechanisms for pipeline health, data freshness, and recommendation drift.

• Collaborate across Python, Terraform, and Ruby/Ruby on Rails.

• Set standards and review practices for AI-assisted engineering initiatives.

• Manage production systems from start to finish, including alarms, backfills, runbooks, and migrations.

• Enhance code quality through peer reviews and elevate engineering standards.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in building and operating production systems.

• Strong proficiency in Python within serverless or service contexts, including AWS Lambda, container images, dependency and runtime management, and multi-stage job orchestration.

• Practical experience with Terraform, including production data stores, IAM, encryption, networking, and alerts.

• Proficient in analytical SQL and data modeling.

• Experience in constructing and debugging multi-stage warehouse pipelines on Redshift.

• Capability to reconcile messy source data into reliable datasets.

• Familiarity with relational, key-value/document, and search database paradigms.

• Ability to manage changes within a large Ruby on Rails codebase.

• Extensive AWS experience with services such as Lambda, S3, SQS, Kinesis, EventBridge, DynamoDB, Aurora/RDS, Redshift, and IAM.

• Proven ability to maintain production machine learning models over time, including versioning, dependency drift, feature plumbing, and explainability.

• Experience in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment with changing priorities and expected ownership.

• Must have authorization to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
