Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop a consumer product that verifies the authenticity of thinking and learning.

• Take ownership of user-facing product interfaces and the essential learner experience.

• Create a secure communications layer linking product components across server-side, browser, and client-side environments.

• Encrypt sensitive user information to guarantee privacy and security.

• Design storage architecture and schemas for maintaining persistent user state.

• Establish data access controls and audit logging that align with institutional security and compliance requirements.

• Manage features from specification to production, including testing, monitoring, and iterations.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to ensure high output while preserving code quality.

• Contribute to and expand shared component libraries and codebase standards.

• Investigate circumvention tools, best practices, and industry competitors to sustain the team's competitive advantage.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science or a related field with at least 6 years of relevant experience.

• Proficient in using AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar as part of the development workflow.

• Proven experience in shipping full-stack products to real users, with responsibility for their functionality.

• Strong instincts related to product development, with the capability to identify and resolve user experience issues.

• Ability to work swiftly, make informed decisions amidst ambiguity, and enhance the codebase.

• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

• A portfolio or GitHub link must be included with the application.

• Candidates must have legal authorization to work in the country where the role is based at the time of hire and maintain that authorization throughout their employment.

• A PhD in computer science or a related field is preferred.

• A keen interest in technologies and human interactions.

• Familiarity with consumer-facing tools, usability requirements, and quality assurance practices.

• Ability to analyze how tools function, close security exploits, and eliminate loopholes.

• Experience in consumer-facing products where user behavior and engagement are critical, and product integrity is essential.
