Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the architecture and ongoing development of a significant segment of the entity data platform.

• Create systems that efficiently ingest and deliver large quantities of diverse vendor data at scale, ensuring high reliability, freshness, and accuracy.

• Minimize manual validation efforts by leveraging AI-driven solutions, confidence scoring, provenance tracking, and deterministic matching rules.

• Develop agreements for correctness and traceability, including source attribution and the rationale for entity matching and creation.

• Strike a balance between AI-driven methods and rules-based strategies to enhance reliability and explainability.

• Execute comprehensive integrations across ingestion, matching, entity generation, and delivery processes.

• Address production incidents and enhance observability and reliability through iterative improvements.

• Establish engineering standards, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product teams and downstream stakeholders on quality benchmarks and success metrics.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in building and maintaining large-scale production systems.

• Demonstrated expertise in data ingestion, entity resolution, matching, or normalization on a large scale.

• Extensive knowledge in one or more of the following areas: distributed systems, data pipelines, reference data platforms, platform engineering, or AI-based classification and validation.

• Proficient in coding, system design, and architectural patterns.

• Ability to design reliable systems that integrate probabilistic (AI) and deterministic methodologies.

• Commitment to delivery excellence, including incident management, observability enhancements, and reliability improvements.

• Skilled in utilizing AI, testing, automation, and tooling effectively.

• Proven track record in establishing standards, making technical decisions, and mentoring peers through documentation.

• Experience in evolving or re-platforming live systems with numerous downstream users.

• Preferred qualifications include experience with company or financial reference data, vendor reconciliation, provenance, lineage, confidence-scoring, quarantine/resolution workflows, end-to-end integration of new data vendors, and cloud-native architectures or internal platforms.
