📋 Description

• Develop and enhance fundamental AI platform functionalities for applications powered by GenAI.

• Create, implement, and launch scalable tools and infrastructure that support applied scientists.

• Construct systems for traditional ML model training and serving, along with feature and data workflows, CI/CD, orchestration, deployment, and evaluation tools.

• Engage directly with backend services, execution infrastructure, and integrations of AI models/tools.

• Assess next-generation AI infrastructure frameworks and tools.

• Lead projects to successful completion with an emphasis on business impact and quantifiable results.

• Tackle intricate technical challenges and remain updated on advancements in AI.

• Collaborate with applied scientists, product engineering teams, senior engineers, and engineering leadership.

• Establish multi-quarter roadmaps and make strategic decisions regarding build, buy, or adopt options.

• Ensure that AI/ML platforms align with Thumbtack's AI objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Proven record of technical leadership at the staff level or equivalent scope.

• More than 3 years of experience in building AI/ML infrastructure in a production environment.

• Practical experience with LLM-powered systems in operational settings.

• Familiarity with LLM gateways or proxies, prompt and model lifecycle management, RAG or agentic architectures, and cost optimization for LLM workloads.

• Experience in constructing or managing AI evaluation systems.

• Extensive expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining reliable distributed systems.

• Accountability for production services at a significant scale.

• Responsibility for on-call duties and incident leadership.

• Proven capability to utilize AI coding tools and assess, critique, and enhance AI-generated outputs.
