Staff Software Development Engineer – JIT Proxy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create the architecture and technical strategy for highly concurrent, distributed backend systems using Go.

• Establish engineering standards across various teams within StrongDM and Delinea.

• Influence design decisions for the proxy data plane, encompassing gateways, relays, and control-plane services.

• Assess tradeoffs related to intricate and ambiguous technical challenges.

• Collaborate with architects, product managers, and DevOps/SRE leadership on multi-quarter system roadmaps.

• Act as a subject matter expert on secure network protocols and cryptographic systems.

• Direct the application of TLS/mTLS, credential brokering, and key management throughout the platform.

• Lead cross-team code and design evaluations.

• Mentor engineers on standards for performance, security, and maintainability.

• Diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges in distributed, multi-cloud production settings.

• Produce and update architectural and technical strategy documentation.

• Provide mentorship to engineers and possibly oversee the work of others.

• Foster cross-team relationships to align engineering efforts with company goals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field.

• Over 8 years of professional experience as a software engineer.

• Profound expertise in Go (Golang), distributed systems, and backend/network service development at scale.

• Experience in architecting highly concurrent and distributed systems.

• Familiarity with Go’s standard networking and cryptography libraries.

• Strong grasp of distributed systems, network protocols, and API design (gRPC/Protobuf and/or RESTful APIs).

• Experience with AWS or another major cloud service provider.

• Knowledge of cloud-native deployment models at production scale.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• Capable of articulating advanced technical concepts and persuading diverse stakeholders and audiences.

• Ability to establish formal working relationships and coordinate efforts across multiple teams and functions.

• Conceptual thinking skills adequate to comprehend advanced technical issues and their broader business implications.

• Proven history of mentoring engineers and being acknowledged as a subject matter expert.

• Must not require any form of US work authorization presently or in the future, including F1-OPT, F1-CPT, H-1B, TN, L-1, and J1.
