This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Design, construct, and sustain cloud-based backend systems, which encompass APIs, event-driven services, and data pipelines.
• Engage throughout the complete software lifecycle: architecture, design, implementation, automated testing, performance tuning, documentation, and verification.
• Create and integrate services with Firestore, Cloud SQL, and other components native to GCP.
• Enhance engineering workflows via automation, improvements in developer efficiency, monitoring/observability advancements, and initiatives for cost optimization.
• Take part in code reviews and advocate for best practices in API design, security, testing, DevOps, and cloud architecture.
• Acquire knowledge and maintain existing internal applications, modernizing and refactoring as needed.
• Identify and resolve issues in collaboration with QA and SRE teams across both lower environments and production.
• Utilize GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and JIRA for managing development and release processes.
• Participate in on-call rotations as necessary.
• Develop next-generation cloud-native, data-driven, and AI-enhanced platform capabilities for Dexcom’s continuous glucose monitoring technology.
• Strong programming expertise in Python, Kotlin, and shell scripting.
• Proven experience in building distributed, cloud-native backend services on GCP.
• Practical experience with Pub/Sub and Kafka for messaging and streaming.
• Proficiency in using Firestore and Cloud SQL for data persistence and querying.
• Experience in building and deploying services within Docker and containerized environments.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and contemporary CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated capability to quickly learn new technologies, particularly AI-assisted development tools.
• Ability to excel in a dynamic engineering environment with changing priorities and multiple concurrent projects.
• Generally requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 8–12 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree and 5–7 years of equivalent industry experience, or a PhD and 2–4 years of experience.
• Travel required: 0–5%.
