Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Tools & Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain software and systems that support Firefox engineering.

• Contribute to tools for developers, CI/CD, automation of workflows, and AI-enhanced development utilities.

• Manage intricate technical challenges from start to finish across software, cloud, and operational layers, enhancing reliability, performance, observability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Collaborate with Firefox engineering, Cloud Engineering, IT, and various teams to address issues that traverse technical and organizational boundaries.

• Employ telemetry, metrics, and data analysis to examine issues and inform engineering choices.

• Participate in architectural and technical strategy discussions, pinpointing recurring challenges and solutions that can be applied across different teams.

• Join teams or ongoing initiatives as needed and independently tackle issues that require dedicated ownership.

• Contribute to the wider open-source community.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient software engineering skills with significant practical experience in deploying and managing production systems.

• Strong programming abilities in languages such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; familiarity with C++ or Rust is advantageous.

• Experience in building, deploying, and operating production systems within cloud environments.

• Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

• Experience in various domains including CI/CD, containerization and orchestration, networking, databases, observability, or developer tools.

• Proficient in leveraging data, telemetry, and metrics to analyze technical issues and drive decisions.

• Understanding of modern AI-assisted development tools, along with their capabilities, limitations, and appropriate applications.

• Capability to navigate software, infrastructure, and operational aspects effectively.

• Strong communication skills, with an emphasis on openness, consistency, respect, and mentorship.
