Staff Research Scientist – Reconstruction Physics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define and oversee strategic research initiatives in medical image reconstruction, quantitative imaging, and imaging physics.

• Set the scientific direction for reconstruction technologies that drive future innovations in GE HealthCare products, including the MIM Software product suite.

• Identify new scientific opportunities and steer long-term research investments.

• Lead cross-disciplinary project teams that include scientists, engineers, clinical experts, and outside collaborators.

• Design, prototype, and assess innovative reconstruction algorithms and physics-based imaging techniques.

• Utilize advanced modeling, inverse problem strategies, numerical optimization, and statistical methods to address imaging challenges.

• Create software prototypes to showcase and validate new concepts.

• Represent GE HealthCare in scientific working groups, standards initiatives, and professional organizations.

• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.

• Establish and sustain partnerships with academic institutions, research consortia, government agencies, and industry collaborators.

• Collaborate with clinical, engineering, product, and business leaders to align research strategies with customer and market demands.

• Shape technical roadmaps and provide guidance to internal stakeholders and leadership teams.

• Mentor scientists and engineers, fostering scientific rigor, reproducibility, and technical excellence.


⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced degree (PhD strongly preferred) in Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

• In-depth expertise in medical imaging algorithms with substantial experience in image reconstruction.

• Proven track record of scientific innovation and independent research leadership.

• Strong grounding in numerical methods, inverse problems, optimization, and statistical modeling.

• Experience in leading complex technical projects involving multiple stakeholders.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Recognized authority in SPECT or other tomographic imaging techniques.

• Proficiency in Monte Carlo simulation and physics-based system modeling.

• Experience in quantitative nuclear medicine imaging and theranostics.

• Documented history of influential publications, invited presentations, patents, or other notable scientific contributions.

• Experience in leading external collaborations, multi-institution research efforts, or scientific working groups.

• Experience mentoring researchers and providing technical leadership across organizations.

• Familiarity with machine learning and AI techniques applicable to medical imaging.
