This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.
• Create a research initiative utilizing Surgo Health's healthcare trust dataset.
• Examine trust dynamics involving medical providers, health institutions, social media, and artificial intelligence.
• Utilize qualitative dialogues obtained through Derin®, Surgo's AI-facilitated interviewing system.
• Contrast traditional survey methodologies with AI-facilitated conversational interviews.
• Explore themes such as trust erosion and recovery, public views on AI in healthcare, choices made contrary to medical advice, institutional versus personal trust, and perceptions of the pharmaceutical industry.
• Assess survey methodologies, interviewer design, conversation dynamics, and computational techniques.
• Prepare one manuscript for journal peer review.
• Generate documented analysis code that replicates all figures reported from the dataset.
• Engage in weekly project touchpoint meetings.
• Integrate methodological advice from Surgo Health's research team.
• Secure final manuscript approval from Surgo Health.
• Submit a research proposal of 1–2 pages.
• The proposal should detail the primary contribution, utilization of qualitative data, practical application, analytical strategy, and publication objectives.
• Research questions must be answerable using the existing dataset and should not necessitate funding for new data collection.
• Projects should capitalize on conversational interview data and explore reasoning, experiences, or context beyond fixed response items.
• Proposals should contribute to modern discussions on trust and healthcare in the U.S.
• Proposals should strive for peer-reviewed publication with rigorous methodologies.
• The analytical plan should address critical variables, panel-specific estimates, and both randomized and observational factors.
• Selection will be based on practical relevance, research depth, feasibility, alignment with Surgo Health's research priorities, and potential for publication.
• Chosen projects must adhere to reporting standards.
• Weekly project touchpoint meetings.
• Complete access to the study dataset.
• Methodological and analytical support from Surgo's research team.
• Onboarding materials, including the data dictionary and reporting standards.
• Lead authorship and support for publication.
• Compensation of $6,000 upon successful submission of the draft to Surgo.
• Earliest project start date: 26th October 2026.
• Paper completion date: 19th February 2027.
• Final manuscript submission deadline: 26th February 2027.
