Research Scientist IV

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct reviews of literature and open-source materials related to AI in the specified field.

• Design, plan, and develop AI software adhering to digital safety best practices.

• Utilize technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills to address complex challenges in AI and software engineering.

• Design, plan, and execute statistically significant evaluations of AI systems.

• Draft written documentation for technical audiences on various components.

• Collaborate closely with team members to ensure processes are accurate and technically robust.

• Lead teams executing specific AI or software engineering workstreams.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

• Participate in technical committees focused on standards.

• Build and sustain relationships within the wider AI and safety research community.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science with a specialization in the relevant AI domain.

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant research experience.

• Expert-level knowledge of AI safety within the specialty area.

• Proven ability to independently and efficiently tackle engineering research challenges through integrated safety testing.

• Capability to create digital safety system components across various safety domains.

• Experience in providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior-level team members.

• Proficient in leading AI or software engineering workstreams.

• Skilled in forecasting end-user requirements and subsequent research/tool development steps.

• Experience in engaging with standards technical committees.

• Ability to foster and maintain relationships within the AI and safety research community.
