Staff Product Engineer – Full-Stack, TypeScript

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the architecture and design of intricate, mission-critical systems across the entire stack.

• Collaborate with the CTO to establish and implement a long-term engineering strategy.

• Convert business strategies into actionable technical roadmaps and challenge methods when necessary.

• Oversee data modeling and system design with a focus on scalability, security, and maintainability.

• Enhance reliability through effective monitoring, service-level objectives, incident response, and conducting blameless postmortems.

• Streamline manual processes including deployments, data fixes, reporting, reviews, and documentation through automation.

• Ensure that systems comply with security, privacy, audit, and compliance standards for sensitive data.

• Establish engineering standards and lead design and code review sessions.

• Mentor engineers to enhance their technical judgment, ownership, and problem-solving skills.

• Propel cross-functional technical challenges to successful completion.

• Foster alignment among U.S. and international engineering teams and serve as the engineering representative with product and executive leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including roles as a Staff, Principal, or comparable technical leader.

• Experience in a startup or growth-stage setting where you were responsible for outcomes rather than merely assigned tasks.

• Extensive knowledge of TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.

• Strong foundation in database principles: schema design, transactions, locking, query performance, and data integrity.

• Proven history of designing and maintaining business-critical systems such as workflows, integrations, financial transactions, or handling sensitive data.

• Experience in making significant architectural decisions and articulating trade-offs clearly.

• Proven ability to scale a product as customer bases, markets, and requirements evolve.

• Solid understanding of reliability, monitoring, and incident response practices.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex concepts to non-technical audiences.

• A thoughtful approach to utilizing AI tools that enhances productivity while maintaining ownership, oversight, and quality.

• Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership outside of a conventional Agile or Scrum framework.
