Staff Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain code that automates public cloud infrastructure, software delivery pipelines, and enablement tools.

• Create and manage code for platform services utilized internally.

• Establish the technical trajectory for the platform and spearhead multi-quarter, cross-functional initiatives.

• Make informed decisions regarding build-versus-buy and architectural choices.

• Recognize and address significant developer experience and delivery challenges.

• Enhance technical standards through design reviews, code assessments, and mentoring opportunities.

• Collaborate with product engineering, security, and compliance teams, including in the FedRAMP environment.

• Document system designs, configurations, processes, and decisions comprehensively.

• Work alongside remote engineers to develop the platform.

• Engage with containers, serverless infrastructure, Kubernetes, Golang, Vue, public cloud services, and SaaS technologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on building platform, infrastructure, or developer tooling as a software product.

• Proven history of technical leadership extending beyond a single team.

• Proficiency in automating infrastructure through code using tools like Pulumi or Terraform.

• Familiarity with GitHub Actions.

• Extensive experience with public cloud services, particularly Azure.

• Knowledge of operational excellence principles.

• Experience in building and supporting enterprise SaaS products.

• Capability to learn and apply new technologies pragmatically.

• Ability to break down complex technical issues and circumvent dependency blockers.

• Strong programming skills in at least one language such as Go, Python, Java, or C/C++; Go is the primary platform language.

• Understanding of secure cloud design principles and experience in their implementation.

• A strong inclination towards taking action and maintaining direct, frequent communication.

• Proficient written communication skills, both technical and general.
