Senior Platform Engineer – Growth Product Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the CI/CD framework for AI-enhanced and autonomous development.

• Develop robust pipeline gates, automated testing, security assessments, performance, and cost regression safeguards, along with progressive delivery featuring automated rollback.

• Offer ephemeral per-pull request environments and local tools, including isolated databases filled with realistic data.

• Create centralized logging, monitoring, and alerting systems across AWS.

• Lead efforts in security engineering, address vulnerabilities, and automate code scanning, secrets management, and access control.

• Transition manually created AWS resources to Infrastructure as Code.

• Distinguish between production and pre-production accounts.

• Implement tested backup and disaster recovery strategies with established Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) targets.

• Develop paved-path self-service tools and standardized blue/green, canary, and feature-flag releases.

• Guide engineers and exemplify Samsara’s cultural values.

• Construct and manage AI agents for site reliability engineering alert triage, incident investigation, and self-healing remediation.

• Contribute to backend development and deliver customer-facing product features alongside platform initiatives.

• Advocate for Samsara’s cultural principles as the company expands globally and opens new offices.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in software, infrastructure, DevOps, platform, or site reliability engineering.

• Practical experience with AWS in production settings, including IAM, Lambda, networking, and multi-account environments.

• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.

• Experience in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or Buildkite.

• Familiarity with automated testing, static analysis, coverage enforcement, deployment gates, blue/green and canary releases, feature flags, and reliable rollbacks.

• Strong experience in Python development across services, tooling, and automation.

• Basic knowledge of JavaScript-based technology stacks.

• Experience with Docker and orchestration tools such as ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with cloud security posture management tools like Wiz, Semgrep, Snyk, or similar.

• Expertise in building observability into distributed systems, encompassing centralized logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.

• Experience with monitoring tools such as Sentry, Datadog, CloudWatch, or Grafana.

• Proven track record in designing, building, and operating end-to-end production infrastructure.

• Experience with AI-driven development tools like Claude, Cursor, Codex, or Copilot in regular workflows.

• Demonstrated experience in building and delivering customer-facing product features.

• Preferred: background in mutation testing, ephemeral preview environments, automated rollback, paved-path tooling, managing cloud costs, performance regression detection, capacity planning, disaster recovery, localization pipelines, Salesforce, Contentful, Hightouch, Databricks, Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
