Staff Pharmacist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Assess and clinically validate new and refill prescriptions for therapeutic suitability, drug interactions, contraindications, and dosing precision.

• Confirm pharmacy technician's prescription data entry accuracy.

• Check filled prescriptions for correctness in drug, dosage, quantity, NDC, and labeling prior to shipment.

• Conduct daily prospective drug utilization reviews and address any clinical flags.

• Oversee the handling of specialty medications, including cold-chain verification.

• Offer outbound patient counseling via phone regarding drug education, side effects, dosing, storage, and adherence.

• Manage inbound clinical patient inquiries and log interactions in the pharmacy management system.

• Provide bilingual counseling to Spanish-speaking patients when necessary.

• Reach out to prescribers to clarify any incomplete, unclear, or inappropriate prescriptions.

• Collaborate with prescribers on therapeutic substitutions, DAW overrides, and formulary alternatives.

• Supervise pharmacy technicians in data entry, processing, packaging, and fulfillment workflows.

• Perform quality checks and deliver corrective feedback on technician performance.

• Report technician performance trends and engage in coaching and training.

• Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations, state pharmacy practice acts, federal DEA regulations, and company policies.

• Oversee the management, documentation, and destruction of records containing PHI.

• Participate in audits, track prescription errors, report near misses, and engage in pharmacovigilance activities.

• Maintain compliance for storage of temperature-sensitive medications.

• Collaborate with pharmacy, patient services, clinical, compliance, and technology teams.

• Work with shipping and fulfillment teams to address packaging and delivery challenges.

• Provide clinical insights on technology and workflow improvements.

• Engage in huddles, quality reviews, and departmental meetings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.

• Active Missouri Pharmacy License in good standing with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy.

• Excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal).

• Proven ability to conduct high-volume prescription verification with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong technical skills and capacity to learn pharmacy management systems, verification platforms, and internal workflow tools.

• Bilingual in Spanish preferred for patient counseling over the phone.

• 3+ years of experience in mail order, specialty, retail, or closed-door fulfillment pharmacy preferred.

• Active pharmacy licensure is required in the home state.

• Candidates must secure licensure in 3 additional states within the first 9 months of employment.

• Familiarity with pharmacovigilance or adverse drug event reporting protocols is preferred.

• Must be available for rotating shifts Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 9:00 pm ET, and rotating Saturdays from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm ET.
