Clinical Formulary Pharmacist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Establish and create both standard and custom formularies for Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare Part D, and Health Information Marketplace sectors.

• Formulate drug product evaluations and formulary suggestions by analyzing drug utilization trends, recent drug introductions, and relevant primary literature.

• Assess pharmacy care costs and trends, while coordinating appropriate-use protocols and guidelines.

• Set standards for medication analysis and manage client reporting.

• Fulfill regulatory obligations for drug utilization reviews and reporting of fraud and abuse.

• Create clinical criteria for medications that are non-formulary or not preferred, and relay recommendations to clients.

• Design clinical edits to process claims and improve drug utilization.

• Develop and assess prior authorization and non-formulary guideline criteria that support the functions of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and pharmacy benefit design.

• Investigate drug information for prior authorization assessments.

• Offer clinical support and guidance to designated pharmacy technicians.

• Prepare necessary documentation and communications for Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee evaluations and decisions.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

• Adhere to all organizational policies and standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring employment-based visa sponsorship at any time.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (PharmD., M.S) in pharmacy is required.

• A minimum of 3 years experience in managed care pharmacy or completion of a pharmacy residency program.

• Current state Pharmacist license without any restrictions.

• Familiarity with drug utilization trends, new drug launches, primary literature, pharmacy care costs, and drug utilization reviews.

• Capability to develop clinical criteria, prior authorization guidelines, formulary suggestions, clinical edits, and medication-use protocols.

• Proficiency in researching drug information and maintaining knowledge of drugs and disease states.

• Ability to provide clinical oversight to pharmacy technicians.

• Competence in supporting the review processes of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.
