This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Take ownership of outcomes from customer issues to delivered, measurable features spanning firmware, Go backend services, and web/mobile platforms.
• Drive technology decisions and implement embedded and firmware solutions.
• Establish architectural frameworks with widespread influence across device-to-cloud products.
• Utilize voice as a medium for AI Agents and human interaction.
• Design considering device limitations, connectivity, cloud services, and large-scale fleet deployment.
• Recognize opportunities and shape technology direction and engineering culture.
• Ensure edge AI algorithms are precise and function within device limitations.
• Collaborate with AI agents and enhance the team's proficiency in AI.
• Partner with Hardware, Backend, Web, Mobile, Product, and Customer Success teams.
• Lead teams in delivering products and features that contribute to overall product success and revenue generation.
• Tackle intricate technical challenges and expedite the delivery of high-quality products.
• Act as a force multiplier for team impact and output.
• Advocate for Samsara’s cultural principles as the organization expands globally.
• Over 10 years of experience in designing, developing, and deploying software.
• Minimum of 2 years in a technical leadership or architectural role.
• Extensive expertise in at least one embedded domain, such as multimedia, connectivity, drivers and kernel, power management, or real-time systems.
• Experience in deploying solutions across firmware, Go backend services, and web or mobile platforms.
• Strong programming capabilities in C/C++, Go, Python, or similar languages.
• Product and systems thinking, considering device limitations, connectivity, cloud services, and large-scale deployment.
• Experience utilizing AI tools in daily engineering tasks and collaborating with AI agents.
• Proven ability to lead and execute complex, high-impact projects with multiple dependencies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proven track record of developing systems within limited compute, data, or hardware resources.
• Expertise in multimedia frameworks, video codecs, and camera systems (ideal candidate).
• Experience in developing and managing software for large-scale embedded systems deployed on over 1 million devices (ideal candidate).
• Experience in deploying CV/ML models on edge devices (ideal candidate).
• Background in robotics, drones, consumer electronics, or automotive industries (ideal candidate).
