This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Take ownership of the entire lifecycle of PCB design and development, from initial concept to production and ongoing support.
• Determine the design strategy, encompassing requirements interpretation, architecture, and selection of components.
• Create schematic captures, PCB layouts, routing, and placement utilizing tools such as Altium.
• Set board-level design considerations for signal integrity, power distribution, EMI, and thermal performance.
• Conduct and assist in board bring-up, debugging, and hardware validation.
• Develop and implement integration and system-level testing, document outcomes, and address issues.
• Formulate manufacturing test procedures and ensure production readiness, incorporating DFM/DFA considerations.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware challenges in both development and production settings.
• Assist with mechanical integration, focusing on enclosure, packaging, and thermal constraints.
• Offer production and sustaining engineering support, including issue resolution and design modifications.
• Collaborate with systems, software, and manufacturing teams.
• Interact with customers and internal stakeholders to define project scope, review designs, and evaluate technical risks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Over 5 years of experience in electronic hardware and PCB design.
• Demonstrated experience managing the full lifecycle of PCB development, which includes architecture, schematic capture, layout, validation, and production.
• Significant experience with component selection and BOM development, taking into account lifecycle and availability factors.
• Expertise in PCB design tools; Altium preferred or equivalent ECAD tools.
• Practical experience with board bring-up, debugging, and hardware validation.
• Proficient in using AutoCAD for drawing wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and thermal design considerations.
• Experience in designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) and collaborating with fabrication/assembly vendors.
• Experience in supporting production and sustaining engineering initiatives.
• Capability to work across electrical and mechanical interfaces, including enclosures, packaging, and thermal constraints.
• Background in nuclear, aerospace, defense, or other safety-critical/regulated environments.
