Staff Engineer – SME Membranes

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the enterprise subject matter expert for membrane separation technologies.

• Provide technical leadership for applications involving RO, UF, NF, and MF.

• Lead technical evaluations of significant capital projects that incorporate membrane systems.

• Serve as the ultimate technical authority for engineering decisions related to membranes.

• Support strategic choices concerning the design, technology selection, and optimization of membrane systems.

• Make informed technical decisions in uncertain or high-risk scenarios.

• Engage in concept development, feasibility studies, and engineering design assessments.

• Review process designs and vendor submissions for membrane systems.

• Assist in Operational Excellence initiatives that address complex issues related to membrane performance, reliability, and capacity.

• Identify opportunities for optimizing membrane systems.

• Establish and uphold enterprise standards for membrane system design and operation.

• Ensure compliance with standards in collaboration with Engineering Governance and promote adoption throughout the network.

• Monitor and assess emerging membrane technologies.

• Evaluate new technologies for potential product platforms, competitive edge, quality, cost, or functional enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred).

• Over 10 years of experience in process engineering for membrane systems and/or capital project development and execution.

• Proven experience in developing technical standards and specifications.

• Demonstrated proficiency in membrane system design, operation, troubleshooting, and optimization.

• Strong knowledge of dairy processing.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills; capable of influencing technical decisions across various facilities and stakeholder groups.

• Experience in facilitating technical reviews and ensuring follow-up actions are taken.

• Background in supporting capital projects.

• Experience in implementing standards and managing change effectively to guarantee adoption.

• Familiarity with whey processing, protein concentration, and dairy ingredient manufacturing.

• Experience collaborating with leading membrane system suppliers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

• Willingness to travel: 50%.
