Staff Engineer, Retail

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Assume technical leadership within the Retail sector

• Direct architectural choices related to scalability, performance, and maintainability

• Convert intricate technical issues into practical solutions

• Develop customer-centric solutions from initial discovery and technical design through to implementation, rollout, and production

• Enhance engineering practices, shared components, and architectural methodologies

• Produce consistent, reusable, and high-quality experiences at scale

• Guide engineers through collaborative work, code reviews, design discussions, and technical feedback

• Foster consensus on technical decisions and elevate engineering standards within the Retail sector

• Collaborate with Product Owners, UX teams, and engineering peers

• Identify opportunities, recognize risks early, and balance technical trade-offs, customer value, and long-term viability

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive software engineering knowledge with a solid background in frontend or backend development, or both

• Experience at the Staff/Principal level or equivalent technical leadership role

• Proficient in architecture and system design

• Capacity to take charge of complex technical decisions with significant autonomy

• Proven history of mentoring engineers and leading through influence

• Ability to achieve alignment without relying on formal authority

• Strong product insight combined with technical depth

• Ability to collaborate effectively with Product and UX teams

• Experience in assessing trade-offs and validating ideas in a pragmatic manner

• Familiarity with React.js, Next.js, Java, ES6, ESI, Varnish, Docker, Google Cloud, and Kubernetes
