Senior Software Engineer – Session Replay

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the technical direction for Session Replay across frontend, backend, and data systems.

• Advance backend architecture to accommodate columnar and analytical storage of large-scale session data.

• Establish data models, ingestion pipelines, and query methodologies.

• Lead investigative workflows that connect replay functionality with logs, metrics, traces, and other telemetry from Grafana Cloud.

• Make architectural choices that impact multiple teams and products.

• Collaborate with teams focused on Frontend Observability, Synthetic Monitoring, and Core Grafana.

• Engage directly with customers through calls, structured feedback, and support for Session Replay adoption.

• Enhance engineering standards, patterns, and operational practices.

• Mentor engineers to develop their technical leadership skills.

• Strong reasoning skills regarding data-intensive systems, including ingestion, storage, querying, and cost considerations.

• Capability to independently manage features within ambiguous problem areas.

• Understanding of user-centered software development methodologies.

• Proficient in creating complex, maintainable, readable, and automated solutions.

• Ability to articulate design decisions effectively in both written and spoken English.

• Comfortable operating in a remote-first work environment.

• Experience with columnar and analytical databases is advantageous.

• Familiarity with observability tools is a plus.

• Background in developing debugging or developer-centric tools is beneficial.

• Knowledge of privacy, security, and access control within data-heavy systems is an added advantage.

• Experience with performance-sensitive systems is a bonus.
