This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the technical and ontological architecture for the Palantir Foundry platform across all Arsenal portfolios.

• Develop and sustain a cohesive Foundry ontology strategy that spans multiple portfolios and applications.

• Establish and uphold naming conventions, modeling standards, and governance for object lifecycle management.

• Evaluate existing ontology objects, recognize technical debt, and prioritize remediation efforts.

• Create and maintain data dictionaries, lineage maps, relationship diagrams, and other key ontology documentation.

• Define reference architecture patterns for pipelines, transformations, and integrations.

• Act as the final technical reviewer and approver for new solution designs.

• Keep architecture decision records that document crucial design choices and their rationales.

• Serve as the primary escalation point and design collaborator for sustainment developers.

• Enhance the resolution of sustainment tickets through improved documentation, clarity in dependencies, and standardized patterns.

• Foster feedback loops between sustainment and architecture to promote proactive remediation.

• Lead the technical assessment of ERP migration effects on Foundry, including pipelines, connectors, and ontology objects.

• Evaluate and mitigate risks related to applications dependent on ERP data.

• Define a phased migration and cutover strategy in collaboration with ERP program leadership.

• Oversee post-migration validation of ontology integrity, data lineage, and platform stability.

• Create a living architecture repository for standards, patterns, diagrams, and decision logs.

• Incorporate durable documentation practices into the delivery lifecycle.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 12+ years of experience in data/platform architecture, or a Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience.

• Must obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level security clearance as a condition of continued employment.

• Significant hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, focusing on ontology design, pipelines, transformations (both code and no-code), and the application layer.

• Proven experience in designing or governing an enterprise ontology or data model across various applications, business units, or functional domains.

• Experience in leading or significantly contributing to a major system or platform migration, such as ERP or data platform migration.

• Demonstrated history of transforming complex, inconsistently built environments into documented, governed, and maintainable architectures.

• Ability to serve as a neutral technical authority among competing stakeholder groups and influence without direct reporting authority.

• Strong communication skills for collaboration with technical teams and business/functional stakeholders.

• Robust background in software development and architecture, with extensive experience in databases and data architecture.

• Capacity to evaluate solution paths across Palantir Foundry, SAP, existing applications, and other technologies.

• U.S. citizenship is required for positions that require government clearance.

• Preferred: Experience with SAP or major ERP systems.

• Preferred: Background in manufacturing, supply chain, or defense/aerospace sectors.

• Preferred: Experience in establishing an architecture governance function.

• Preferred: Familiarity with organizational change management practices.

• Preferred: Palantir Foundry certifications or equivalent platform expertise.

• Preferred: Experience in constructively challenging and reshaping technically unsound requests.
