Senior Director of Data Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct structured discovery sessions with executives and functional leaders to pinpoint unresolved business inquiries.

• Convert business inquiries into a prioritized roadmap encompassing platform, data model, and analytics deliverables.

• Interpret business strategy into data architecture and elucidate technical trade-offs for non-technical stakeholders.

• Oversee and manage CuraLinc's Microsoft Fabric analytical platform in conjunction with its AWS application architecture.

• Establish practices for environment separation, release management, and validation within the data platform.

• Propel infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability throughout the analytics stack.

• Manage metric governance, which includes canonical definitions, lineage, quality, and the semantic layer.

• Integrate identity and account data across CRM, financial, and clinical systems.

• Consolidate clinical, CRM, financial, operational, application, and third-party data into governed pipelines.

• Develop and sustain executive dashboards along with self-service reporting tools.

• Collaborate with Software Engineering and Product teams to deliver analytics via APIs, services, and client-facing applications.

• Enhance automated, governed, and scheduled reporting for both internal and client needs.

• Lead, mentor, and cultivate the Data and Analytics team while remaining actively involved in architecture, design, coding, and technical reviews.

• Ensure adherence to security, privacy, compliance, PHI handling, and multi-tenant isolation in a regulated healthcare setting.

• Promote data literacy through comprehensive documentation, training, and user-friendly tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software engineering, or data architecture.

• More than 5 years in technical leadership or engineering management roles.

• Demonstrated expertise as a founding or senior data leader managing the full stack from raw data to executive dashboards.

• Experience in maturing and operating production data platforms, including environment separation, release management, capacity planning, and incident response.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or comparable platforms such as Synapse or enterprise-scale Power BI.

• Familiarity with AWS application infrastructure.

• Experience managing metric definitions, semantic layers, or data governance across multiple departments.

• Strong SQL proficiency.

• Proficient in at least one programming language such as Python or Java.

• Deep understanding of data modeling, query optimization, and analytical architecture.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to credibly present findings and recommendations to executives and board members.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
